Academic Regalia

Important: Regalia orders must be placed no later than 4:30 pm on Thursday, September 18. 

Faculty Regalia

Faculty are invited to participate in the academic procession for the installation ceremony of Dr. Marlene Tromp, 28th President of the University of Vermont, on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

Regalia for faculty members can be rented through the UVM Bookstore. Please contact Brendan Andrews at bandrews@uvm.edu. You will need to provide your height and weight, highest degree, name of the institution that granted the degree, and head wear choice (mortarboard or tam). The cost of the rental is $90-$145, depending on your degree and whether or not a tam is selected.

Academic Regalia for Delegates

Academic regalia is required for procession participants. University Delegates who need to order academic regalia may do so through the UVM Bookstore.

Regalia may be picked-up on campus at the UVM Bookstore beginning the morning of Monday, September 29th or arrangements can be made to have regalia preset at the robing location through the UVM Installation Office (please call 802-656-3273 or email installation@uvm.edu). Rental regalia must be returned to the UVM Bookstore by Wednesday, October 2 or arrangements can be made with the UVM Installation Office to leave regalia in the robing tent after the ceremony for return to the UVM Bookstore.

From Boston: 220 miles
From New York City: 290 miles
From Albany, N.Y.: 145 miles

From I-89 North or South: Take Exit 14W. Proceed 1 mile west on Route 2 (Williston Road, which becomes Main Street) to campus.

From north or south on Route 7: Enter Burlington from either direction. Turn onto Main Street (Route 2 East). Go uphill one light to South Prospect Street.

From the Adirondack Northway (I-87): Take Exit 20. Proceed north on Route 9 to Route 149, headed to Fort Ann, N.Y. In Fort Ann, take Route 4 North to Route 22A in Vermont. Follow Route 22A through Vergennes, then follow Route 7 North into Burlington. Turn right onto Main Street (Route 2 East). Go uphill one light to South Prospect Street.

From Burlington International Airport: From airport grounds, turn left onto Airport Drive. At next stoplight, turn right onto Williston Road/Route 2 West. Drive 4–5 miles west to UVM campus, at top of hill. (Williston Road becomes Main Street.)

Burlington International Airport (BTV)

Burlington International Airport is located 3.5 miles from campus in South Burlington. Major airlines include American, Breeze, Delta, Frontier, United, and Sun Country Airlines.

Car Rental

Car rental agency counters are located inside the Burlington International Airport (BTV) terminal, on the main floor, adjacent to the baggage carousels. Rental vehicles are just a short walk from the counters via a covered skywalk.

Parking and Shuttle Information

Street Closures: 

University Place and Morrill Road will be closed to traffic on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Parking for Non-UVM Guests:

Guest parking for the Installation Ceremony on Tuesday, September 30 is available on campus in the Jeffords East Lower (JELL) lot off of Beaumont Avenue and adjacent to campus at the Doubletree Conference Center (870 Williston Road, South Burlington, VT 05403). Limited parking is available in the Votey lot. Parking is free.

Shuttle Service:

From 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., & 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Shuttle buses will run a loop every 20 minutes to include the following stops and locations: 

  • Doubletree Conference Center parking lot (pick-up location: outside Conference Center lobby)
  • Jeffords East Lower Lot (JELL lot)
  • Davis Center - circle
  • Morrill building (across from the robing tents)
  • Ira Allen Chapel*

*Note: The Ira Allen Chapel stop will end service by 1:00 pm.  Guests should arrive to be seated by no later than 1:00 pm for the start of the procession. Golf carts will be available to assist with transportation as needed to Ira Allen Chapel after 1:00 pm from the Morrill stop. Additional trip(s) will serve Morrill until 1:30 p.m. No shuttle service 1:30 p.m. -3:00 p.m. Shuttle service will continue between the Doubletree Conference center, JELL lot, Davis Circle and Morrill Building approximately every 20 minutes from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

For guests staying at hotels in the downtown area, continuous shuttle bus service will run in a loop every 30 minutes from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., & 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., to include the following stops and locations:

Marlene Tromp
