Commencement is my favorite time of year!
The joy of celebrating the accomplishments of our Class of 2026 at our commencement ceremonies was a magical close to my first academic year at UVM. I am equally proud to celebrate your extraordinary dedication to our students, to our beloved institution, and to the wellbeing of our community. UVM’s success is a direct reflection of your positive engagement, innovation, and unwavering commitment to providing an exceptional experience for our students.
Thank you for making this a truly amazing first year. I hope you are able to take some well-deserved time over the coming months to rest, recharge, and to enjoy our home—summer's most beautiful American city.
Please save the date—August 25—for our very first State of the University Address. We will gather at the Ira Allen Chapel to launch the fall semester, welcome our newest Catamounts, talk about the year ahead, and discuss efforts to advance our new strategic plan: Green, Gold, and Bold.
Following the presentation, I invite you to join me for an all-employee picnic lunch at the Davis Center and Andrew Harris Commons, where you can catch up with colleagues and celebrate the opening of another academic year.
I look forward to working on our promising future together.
With gratitude,
Dr. Marlene Tromp
President
