Dear campus community,

It is my pleasure to announce the hiring of Lauren Griswold as Chief Communications and Marketing Officer at UVM, effective November 11. I believe strong and effective marketing and communications in alignment with the strategic plan is one of the most important and effective ways to advance the university. Lauren’s accomplishments as an integral member of my leadership team at two previous institutions give me great confidence that adding her experience to the strong existing team in Strategic Communications will position the division and the university for great success.

Lauren is an innovator, storyteller, and culture keeper who has worked in higher education at both the community college and university levels. She has expertise in building brand reputation, as well as leading and creating strategy and successfully scaling it across enterprises for local, national, and global organizations.

Lauren joined Boise State University in 2019 as Associate Vice President for Creative Strategy and was promoted in 2020 to oversee Boise State’s Office of Communications and Marketing as the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer. During her time in the role Griswold led the launch of the Northwest Emmy-nominated commercial, Out of The Blue, and was also recognized by the American Marketing Association as a finalist for marketer of the year in higher education in 2024.

Prior to joining Boise State, Lauren worked at Arizona State University, Mt. Hood Community College, Edelman, Microsoft, and Major League Baseball. She has a wide range of experiences from sales, marketing, communications, community relations, branding, and creative strategy. Lauren has a master’s degree in communication studies from Arizona State University and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Eastern Washington University.

I want to thank Interim Chief Communications and Marketing Officer Alex Bertoni for his excellent leadership and stewardship of the Strategic Communications division over the past year.
