Aspiring woman-identifying and non-binary leaders at UVM have an opportunity to attend the Higher Education Resource Services (HERS) Leadership Institute for the 2023/2024 program. We encourage women to take advantage of this experience for their personal growth as well as the development of our campus leadership capacity. The University of Vermont will fund 2 UVM participants. Deadline for applications is March 31, 2023. An Information Session will be hosted by UVM HERS alum and Prism Center director Kate Jerman, and Women & Gender Equity Center director Melissa Murray on March 22nd from 12 noon to 1:00pm on MS Teams. Interested faculty and staff are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and apply. Visit the HERS web page for details and a link to the informational meeting on March 22.
The HERS Leadership Institute is an inclusive program, welcoming all woman-identifying and non-binary individuals. It is designed for faculty and staff who generally hold mid-to-senior level positions in higher education and have a desire to emerge as more dynamic leaders for themselves and their institutions. The HERS Institute offers an intensive professional development experience that prepares all faculty and administrators who identify as women for leadership roles in higher education. Participants can expect to gain perspective on key higher education issues from current and former women presidents, provosts, deans, and other top-level administrators; learn about institutional decision-making and change processes; and focus on their individual career development while creating lasting professional and personal relationships. Participants representing UVM will be expected to attend four weekend sessions during the academic year and to share what they have learned with the UVM community.
Interested staff and faculty should complete program and application information located online at https://www.uvm.edu/develop/hers-leadership-institute-program. It is important to follow the application process on the UVM HERS website. An information session will be announced soon for all interested faculty and staff members considering applying. Details about the session, including the date, time, and location, will be released soon.
If you would like to talk with UVM alumnae of the HERS program, or would like to invite someone to apply, please contact HERS Nominating Committee co-chairs; Kate Jerman, Melissa Murray, or email wage@uvm.edu.
