The role of practice in achieving precision – both in and out of the classroom – is clear to Oumaima Sriji, who competed and medaled nationally in the Korean martial art of Taekwondo while working toward her degree in medical laboratory science. Oumaima served as president of the UVM Taekwondo Club, helping other students learn techniques of self-defense, forms, and Olympic style sport sparring, acquainted prospective students with the University as an AdvoCat student ambassador and tour guide, and offered guidance to new students as an orientation leader and resident advisor.
Her spring semester clinical placement and a position as an undergraduate researcher provided valuable hands-on technical skills that will undoubtedly make an impact in her new career as a medical laboratory technician at the University of Vermont Medical Center, where she'll provide essential information about patients' health.
“I’m excited to start a career and looking forward to the future,” says Oumaima.
