Amanda Jones, M.P.H., works as the Informatics and Data Modernization Director for the Vermont Department of Health. This position provides strategic direction for crucial public health data systems, interoperability initiatives, data integration, and data strategy for the public health department in Vermont. This can range from enterprise-level projects integrating public health data to providing opportunities for staff to upskill in data science and informatics principles. The purpose of this work is to ensure public health data systems and staff are better equipped to respond to emerging public health threats. Enhanced data systems and skilled staff will provide the foundation for improved data-driven decision-making for public health.
Prior to this role, Amanda worked as a Public Health Analyst at VDH, leading the team that analyzes substance use and overdose data. Before moving to beautiful Vermont, Amanda worked as a Senior Epidemiologist for several years, mainly focusing on infectious disease surveillance and response in Arizona and Colorado. Amanda has worked in applied public health her whole career and has an incredible passion for epidemiology and its role as the backbone of public health.
