We encourage fourth year students applying for an orthopaedic residency to rotate with us for an Acting Internship to explore our residency program. More about our visiting student scholarship program.

Grand Rounds

Body

Grand Rounds is a hybrid event to allow for greater accessibility across the network. We meet Thursdays at 7:00 AM September through June. Presentations by orthopaedic subject area experts, faculty, providers, residents, and medical students. CMIE credit is available for up to 30 days following each event for physicians, nurses, and APPs.

Journal Club

Body

Journal Club examines and reviews current literature in subspecialty fields to gain insight on new developments and practice-changing processes and procedures. Residents and medical students learn how to complete a comprehensive literature review and analysis. Article reviews are conducted on the first Monday of the Month, September-June.

Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitations

During the fourth year, Advanced Integration, students applying for an orthopaedic residency complete and Orthopaedic Acting Internship at UVM before broadening their experience with several away rotations. Students applying to Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, complete a four (4) week rotation.

Fourth Year Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Electives

We offer a variety of musculoskeletal courses to compliment subspecialties such as family medicine, primary care, vascular care, emergency medicine. These electives focus on musculoskeletal patient management covering full body bone and muscle injury and care.

Medical student education spans all four years, beginning with the musculoskeletal content in Connections, a course in the Foundations level of the Vermont Integrated Curriculum. We provide additional educational opportunities with fracture, X-ray, and saw bones clinics with the Orthopaedic Student
