BIO

Maija Reblin, Ph.D,  joined Brian Sprague, Ph.D. in January, 2022 as the co-leader for the UVM Cancer Center’s Cancer Control and Population Health Sciences program. In this capacity, Dr. Reblin serves on the UVM Cancer Center senior leadership team (along with program leaders Marc Greenblatt, M.D. and Seth Frietze, Ph.D. (Molecular Mechanisms of Malignancy) and Jane Lian, Ph.D. and Peter Kaufman, M.D.(Host Factors and Tumor Progression)). 

Dr. Reblin is an Associate Professor in the College of Medicine and member of the Vermont Conversation Lab. Trained as a social and health psychologist, her research focuses on understanding the social context of family caregivers of those with serious illness and using this knowledge to develop strengths-based interventions. Dr. Reblin’s research focuses on understanding the social context of advanced cancer family caregivers and using this knowledge to develop strengths-based interventions to support caregivers and caregiver-patient dyads. Specific areas of focus include social relationships, social support and service use, and interpersonal communication. Dr. Reblin has over 150 peer-reviewed publications and has completed and ongoing funding as PI and co-I from the American Cancer Society, the National Cancer Institute, and the National Institute of Nursing Research.
