Education Retreat: October 10, 2025
Each year, the Department of Neurological Sciences convenes its Annual Education Retreat, a dedicated day for faculty to reflect, collaborate, and advance our shared teaching mission. This retreat brings together educators across all levels of training, from undergraduate and graduate students to medical students, residents, and fellows. Through dynamic workshops, inspiring guest speakers, and structured time for collegial exchange, we critically evaluate our educational practices and identify strategic priorities for the year ahead. The retreat serves as a vital forum to reaffirm our commitment to excellence in teaching and to ensure that our programs remain inclusive, innovative, and learner-centered.
Research Retreat: March 20, 2026
The Department of Neurological Sciences hosts an Annual Research Retreat to evaluate and strengthen our research mission across basic, clinical, and translational domains. Faculty gather for guest lectures, interactive workshops, and focused discussions on enhancing translational research and expanding external funding strategies. The retreat offers time to reflect, share insights, and align priorities for continued neuroscience research innovation and impact.

Annual NBH (Neuroscience, Behavior and Health) Forum
The NBH Forum is supported in by the Department of Neurological Sciences and by the VT Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience. Every year it brings together faculty and students from various schools and programs in the Vermont area to share their research. Last year, more than 140 scientists from the University of Vermont, Saint Michael’s College, Middlebury College and Dartmouth College attended the event.
The NBH forum is a great occasion for graduate and undergraduate students, post-docs and new faculty to present their recent data, discuss novel ideas and establish new collaborations. This event also overlaps with the interviews of the prospective students applying to the Neuroscience Graduate Program and it provides them with a great overview of the research projects and training opportunities offered at UVM.
