Dr. Melanie Meyer, N.D., M.S., M.P.H. has been a practicing naturopathic physician in Central Vermont since 2010. Her clinical focus is the application of integrative and lifestyle medicine to prevent and reverse chronic disease. Her experience providing care to Vermonters of varying socioeconomic backgrounds sparked her passion for reducing community and population-level health disparities and inspired her to engage in the study of public health.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Meyer has had the privilege of working as an educator since 2011. She has developed and instructed students in biology and health science courses. Her clinic has served as a preceptor site, allowing her to provide training and mentorship to both aspiring clinicians and medical assistants in training. She finds joy in creating meaningful connections with her students, engaging them in exploring their potential for impactful contributions to the population through professional engagement in healthcare and public health disciplines.
Community Engagement:
Dr. Meyer collaborates as a community partner with the Washington County Mental Health Services Wellness Wednesday program, where she offers auricular acupuncture services to participants in a group setting. This grant-funded community clinic provides a host of complementary care services, free of charge, to all in the Central Vermont community.
She currently serves on the Medical Professions Advisory Board for the Central Vermont Career Center's Medical Professional training program.
In collaboration with Washington County Mental Health Services, Dr. Meyer is the lead investigator for a research study exploring the influence of community doula care on factors related to perinatal mental health.
