Colbey Walker, Dr.P.H., M.H.A, serves as the Director of the Department of Orthopedics & Rehabilitation at the University of Vermont Medical Center where he helps lead a multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving the musculoskeletal health of Vermonters and Northern New Yorkers. Overseeing departmental strategic, clinical, and financial operations, Colbey works with an outstanding team that aims to reshape orthopedic and rehabilitative care by improving care quality and enhancing patient outcomes, expanding access to critical subspecialized care, and lowering the cost of care delivered.
Colbey has more than 16 years of experience leaning on his innovative, relationship-based, and data-driven approach to lead teams within academic health systems to improved operational performance. His rich practical experience includes roles managing adult and pediatric inpatient, outpatient, and perioperative operations and leading provider practices spanning various clinical disciplines in urban, suburban, and rural communities.
Prior to his current role with the University of Vermont Health Network, Colbey was a full-time member of the faculty at the UNT Health Fort Worth College of Public Health. As an Assistant Professor, his efforts were focused on teaching in both asynchronous online and in-person modalities, professional and academic advising, practicum coordination, and curriculum development for the Master of Health Administration (M.H.A.) and Master of Public Health - Public Health Leadership (M.P.H.) programs.
