Message from the Chair

The Department of Medicine has a long and proud tradition of leadership in innovative clinical care, education and training, and cutting edge research.

Our clinical mission is to deliver the highest quality clinical care to patients in our region, including access to innovative research and cutting edge technology and new programs.

The Department of Medicine has a number of major research programs with funding from the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense and foundations that fund basic and translational research programs that are recognized around the country.  We perform clinical trials that give our patients access to new and emerging treatments that target a number of diseases.

Education is a major mission for the department, we are proud of our outstanding medicine residency programs, and excellent subspecialty fellowship training: training future outstanding clinicians, basic and translational researchers, and educators is a major mission for the department.

We value each member of our community and are committed to fostering an inclusive environment for everyone. Our Department aims to understand how different factors influence health outcomes and patient care, with a particular focus on population health. By leveraging our resources, we strive to make a meaningful impact on society, promoting excellence in healthcare and improving the well-being of our community.
