Charles Irvin, Ph.D., professor of medicine and molecular physiology & biophysics and former director of the Vermont Lung Center at the UVM Larner College of Medicine, is among 15 recipients of 2026 Respiratory Health Awards from the American Thoracic Society (ATS), Respiratory Therapy reports. The awards—formally issued during the ATS 2026 International Conference in Orlando, Florida, in May—recognize recipients for their contributions to respiratory health through various means, including research, diagnosis, education, and advocacy, according to the ATS.

Dr. Irvin was honored with the Edward Livingston Trudeau Medal, which recognizes major contributions to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of lung disease, critical illness, or sleep disorders through leadership in research, education, or clinical care.
