MSN: 'Accidental' flu virus discovery lays foundation for novel treatment strategies (JUN 2, 2026). The Emily Bruce, Ph.D., Laboratory team at the Larner College of Medicine discovered that different viruses use distinct strategies to initially infiltrate cells and that it is possible to target specific molecules to prevent the viruses from entering new cells, thereby stopping their replication.
