  • Teaching the best lessons through everyday practice 2025 Nominated for The Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award is presented by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation and highlights the importance of compassion and sensitivity to emotional needs in the provision of excellent clinical care. Said in the nomination submission: Dr. Everett consistently models what humanism in medicine represents. She offers compassion, kindness, and patience with all of her patients, and she takes as much time as is necessary to thoroughly explain diagnoses and treatment options, regardless of how complicated the diagnosis and plan are and regardless of the health literacy status of her patient. Dr. Everett is an extremely busy person, being highly involved in direct patient care as well as medical education, yet she always has a positive attitude, which is felt by her colleagues, medical students, and patients. There have been numerous occasions where patients have raved about Dr. Everett to me, and after doing a Gynecologic Oncology Acting Internship in April and working with her in multiple clinics as well as the OR, it is clear to me why-- she is dedicated, compassionate, and centers the patient in each decision she makes. Not only is she an excellent teacher and physician but also an incredible person. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with and learn from her, a sentiment I know her patients share, and I believe she is highly deserving of this award.
