The Office of Equal Opportunity has released the first university report focused on sexual misconduct. Information included in the report is specific to the 2022 – 2023 academic year.

The new report includes UVM policy and processes for reporting incidents of sexual misconduct and harassment, support resources for faculty, staff, and students, and a summary of sexual misconduct disclosures for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Publication of the UVM Sexual Misconduct Report aligns with the university’s commitment to safety for all members of our campus community. The Office of Equal Opportunity acknowledges this is a sensitive and deeply personal topic, however sharing data focused on disclosures of sexual misconduct is a valuable tool to educate our campus about the realities of sexual misconduct and how such incidents are handled at the university.

In 2021 the university initiated a sexual misconduct prevention and response action plan stemming from community concerns. The work conducted since has led to many positive changes and improvements including how information about sexual misconduct is communicated. The development of the annual sexual misconduct report offers a public accounting of annual data on incidents of sexual misconduct, the unviersity's response to reported incidents, and the support resources available for victims.

For Information about sexual misconduct, harrassment, discrimination, and how to file a report or access support, is available on the Office of Equal Opportunity's Title IX and Sexual Misconduct website. The sexual misconduct report (pdf) can be accessed online.

UVM Policy prohibits Sexual Assault, Relationship Violence, Gender-based Stalking, Sexual Exploitation, and Sexual Harassment, and has a standard of affirmative consent. UVM Policy also prohibits retaliation against those who’ve made a good faith report of prohibited conduct, and those who participate or decline to participate in any University resolution process.
