The University of Vermont is committed to offering employees high quality benefits at reasonable costs. While we aspire to limit cost increases as much as possible, some increases are simply inevitable, and are required to keep our plans robust. Benefit plan increases and highlights for 2022 are as follows:
- Medical premium increase 5.9%. The medical cost increases for 2022 are relatively low, reflecting the overall health and wellness of UVM employees.
- Dental High Option premium increase 7.9%. The High Option Plan includes greater benefits while costs remain below the market average. The Base Option Plan remains no cost to employees.
- Voluntary Short-Term Disability. The University negotiates a three-year term for the VSTD plan, and there have been no plan increases in the past three years. This year, the VSTD premium increase will be 9.9%; however, the rates will be locked in for an additional three years. Beginning January 1, 2022, this plan moves to payroll deduction and all participants must re-enroll. For 2022 only, all newly enrolled and re-enrolled employees will be eligible for a 30-day waiting period (instead of a 60-day waiting period).
- Online Enrollment through PeopleSoft for Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Vision Plan and Voluntary Short-Term Disability (VSTD).
- Benefits & Wellness Fair. Tuesday, October 26, from 7:30am – 4:00pm at the Dudley H. Davis Center Silver Maple Ballroom. HRS benefit advisors, vendors, and Wellness representatives will be on hand to answer your questions and assist you.
