On April 4th, 2025 the CAT ECare program proudly trained it's 1,000th attendee! The program has now trained over 1,220 people in life-saving tools and strategies.

Catamount Emergency Care or CAT ECare is a growing health and safety project at UVM, combining the installation of lifesaving equipment at stations distributed around campus and an ongoing class for students, faculty and staff to earn a variety of safety and life-saving certificates. UVM Students do much more than just attend these classes: CAT ECare classes are taught by certified, knowledgeable UVM students! Behind the scenes a team of Public Health Science interns help to administer the program!

Training includes American Heart Association CPR and AED certification, Stop the Bleed® certification, and instruction on how to use Narcan® to reverse opioid overdoses.
