Respect, Integrity, Innovation. Openness, justice, responsibility.

To help ensure excellence is inclusive of everyone in the UVM community – faculty, staff, students, and alumni – the Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion serves in a senior administrative position reporting to both the President and Provost. The Vice Provost serves as an advocate, advisor, and cultural architect coordinating diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts across the University.

    What Services Do We Provide?

The Office of the Vice Provost focuses on strategic initiatives that address patterns of inequity at the institutional level. For example, The Office of the Vice Provost coordinates University-wide implementation of Inclusive Excellence at UVM: A Framework for Building a More Diverse, Inclusive, and Multiculturally Competent Campus and facilitates University-wide signature events like the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Education, Celebration, and Learning Series and the Blackboard Jungle Symposium.

The Division’s five Centers work tirelessly to support students, faculty, and staff members by providing everything from on-site counseling or advising services to serving as advocates for change when there are inequities in outcomes for community members.

    What is Our Purpose?

The Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion believes excellence should be inclusive of the entire UVM community and is steadfastly committed to this belief.
