Twenty Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, and Exercise and Movement Science students volunteered their time to support Special Olympics Vermont's 2017 Fall Games in Burlington on September 23.

Together with Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Science Professors Nancy Gell and Justine Dee, the volunteers screened Special Olympics athletes for strength, flexibility, balance and endurance as part of the FunFitness Physical Therapy program. The program offered hands-on physical therapy and fitness education to Fall Games athletes, who competed in soccer, golf, track and field and softball events.

The Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Science has partnered with Special Olympics Vermont to host an eight-week fitness series for individuals ages 16 – 35 with intellectual disabilities.Led by UVM students, the weekly sessions will take place on Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. in Rowell Building from September 28 – November 16.
