In the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, students have many opportunities to engage in meaningful, hands-on research alongside faculty mentors.

In the lab of Dimitry Krementsov, professor of Biomedical and Health Sciences, undergraduate and graduate students collaborate to investigate questions related to immunology, genetics, and disease. Through this work, they develop laboratory skills, gain experience in scientific inquiry, and contribute to ongoing research projects.

In this Across the Fence interview, undergraduate researcher Julia Young and Ph.D. student Tyler Hogan offer a behind-the-scenes look at life in the Krementsov Lab. They discuss what it’s like to conduct experiments, learn new research techniques, and work as part of a collaborative scientific team. They also reflect on how mentorship from Dr. Krementsov and other lab members has supported their academic growth and career development.
