Future nurses received their white coats on October 1 from the Department of Nursing, part of an annual tradition of recognizing nursing students for their commitment to the field.
The ceremony in Ira Allen Chapel signified the beginning of 121 undergraduate and 46 graduate students’ nursing careers. After crossing the stage to receive their coats, they pledged to act with compassion, exercise sound professional judgement and protect the health, safety and rights of patients.
Department Chair Rosemary Dale welcomed the students and their families and explained the significance of the symbolic white coats worn by health care professionals worldwide.
Keynote presenter Bryan Lorber ‘82, ’95 recalled his strong relationships with CNHS professors and shared highlights from his lifework: “I did have some extraordinary experiences during my 20-year career. I wish you the best for a successful career … Being here today is proof positive that you are the cream of the crop!”
