Holly Whitcomb, clinical associate professor of nursing and Interprofessional Education (IPE) Director for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, received the Curriculum Innovation Award at the Larner College of Medicine Class of 2028 Foundations Awards Ceremony on January 28. Presented by the medical education leadership team, the award recognizes a faculty or staff member whose innovative contributions strengthen outcomes within the medical education curriculum. The award was presented by Dr. Karen Lounsbury.

Whitcomb was honored for her significant contributions to the development and coordination of the Foundations Interprofessional Education curriculum. Although much of her innovative work occurs behind the scenes, she was recognized for her exceptional ability to recruit program participants, coordinate across complex schedules, and design engaging learning experiences. Her collaborative approach has had a meaningful impact on the success of the IPE program.

Whitcomb holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, and a Diplomate of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. She serves as a clinical associate professor in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences and practices as a family nurse practitioner at UVMMC Family Medicine in Hinesburg. In addition, she is the CNHS Interprofessional Education Coordinator and an Interprofessional Education Visiting Faculty Scholar with the Larner College of Medicine Teaching Academy.
