The UVM Cat ECare team is thrilled to announce the upcoming Have a Heart, Save a Life! event, set to take place on Wednesday, February 19th. The event is a perfect opportunity to learn a variety of life-saving skills, including how to give CPR, use an AED and Stop the Bleed® kit, and administer the opioid reversal agent Narcan®. Located in the UVM Davis Center Grand Maple Ballroom, classes will begin every 90 minutes, starting at 8:00 a.m. and continuing through 8:00 p.m. All classes are taught by UVM students, with members of the UVM Rescue team, undergraduate nursing students, and public health interns working in tandem to bring this event to you!
For the Have a Heart, Save a Life! event, Cat ECare is partnering with Rally Cat’s Cupboard to provide a special offer on our Cat ECare course fee. Normally a great value of $55.00, on February 19th only, bring a non-perishable item for Rally Cat’s Cupboard and you can register in advance for $35.00, or walk-in registration is available for $45.00. A list of items commonly needed by Rally Cat’s Cupboard can be found here, under the “What items can be donated?” FAQ section.

Through this collaboration, we hope to lessen the burden of food insecurity in our community and maximize the emergency medical preparedness of community members. With the UVM Rescue team providing an ambulance to store the donations we receive, by the end of February 19th, we hope to have a truckload of goods for Rally Cat’s Cupboard– literally! Participants from both UVM and the surrounding Burlington area are invited to register here and join Have a Heart, Save a Life!
The Cat ECare program is a growing health and safety project at UVM. The program consists of supplying lifesaving equipment at stations distributed around campus, as well as offering training classes teaching UVM community members how to use this equipment. Training includes American Heart Association CPR and AED certification, Stop the Bleed® certification, and instruction on how to use Narcan® to reverse opioid overdoses.
Join us February 19th in the Davis Center Grand Maple Ballroom to learn how to save lives and fight food insecurity!
