Thomas Carlson

BIO

Thomas Carlson serves the assistant director of the Vermont Child Welfare Training Partnership (CWTP). He has a range of experiences working in non-profit management over that past 25 years, directly overseeing grant proposals, budgeting, and human resources policy while supporting various specialized program work as it relates to children and families. 

For CWTP, Tom continues to support their vision to improve safety, permanency, well-being and law abidance for Vermont’s most vulnerable children, youth and families through a competency-based training programs. 

Before coming to the University of Vermont, Tom managed a project at Tinkering Studio at the Exploratorium in San Francisco, a hands-on science museum and partnered with LEGO to provide other play base modeling. He also spent time working as project lead and helped to move the museum to another facility, and for the After School Corporation in New York providing professional standards in after school programing. 

Tom also has a passion for board games. With over 300 games in his collection, he hosts monthly game lunches with colleagues to foster community building.
