BIO

As CESS' Strategic Communications Manager, John provides leadership in the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of communications that advance the College’s mission and strategic priorities. John collaborates closely with the Division of Strategic Communications to ensure alignment and synergy between the College and the University’s overarching external relations strategy. He communicates stories, events, accomplishments, and issues of strategic importance from the College in ways that support and reinforce College and University goals. 

John received his M.A. in English Literature from the University of Vermont in 2012. He has worked in legislative affairs, nonprofit arts, and in city government, serving a half-decade as Communications Director for the City of Burlington’s City Arts department. Most recently, John was Head of Communications for brand design studio Ruthless & Wellington.

Originally from the Boston area, he is a graduate of Saint Michael’s College and lives in Starksboro with his wife and dog. He published his first novel in 2023, plays guitar in a surf band, and enjoys time spent on ski trails when it’s cold and on the lake when it isn’t.
