Jean Sienkewicz's teaching focuses on social work practice and field education. She is especially committed to applying the principles of her professional practice to the classroom - building trust, facilitating relationships and allowing for all voices, especially those whose have been traditionally silenced, to be heard.
She previously served as Director of HIV+ Services at the statewide Vermont AIDS-Service Organization, Vermont CARES. Her 15 years of practice experience span a variety of Burlington, VT-community organizations, including the Committee On Temporary Shelter, Burlington Housing Authority, and the Pride Center of Vermont. She had more than ten years of part-time teaching experience in the Department of Social Work before joining UVM as a full-time lecturer in 2019. She took over the reins of the Field Education program as Coordinator in Fall 2020.
