BIO
Dr. Aishwarya Joshi is a licensed mental health professional, counselor educator, and scholar whose work centers on the globalization of counseling and counselor education. Her clinical and research interests include trauma-informed counseling, inclusive cultural competencies, and integrating mental health services into public policy. With over a decade of national and international experience, Dr. Joshi is committed to expanding access to equitable, culturally responsive mental health care for diverse and underserved communities.
As an educator, Dr. Joshi teaches graduate-level courses in crisis and trauma counseling, counseling ethics, clinical counseling skills, and multicultural competencies. She emphasizes reflective practice, experiential learning, and a global lens in her teaching, preparing students to respond effectively to complex clinical and sociocultural issues.
Dr. Aishwarya Joshi’s research centers on the globalization of counseling, trauma-informed care, and the experiences of international students in counselor education. She emphasizes culturally responsive practices, interdisciplinary mental health integration, and educational equity. Currently, she leads a NIH-funded project on trauma-informed training for PreK–12 educators in Vermont ($61,000). Her previous grants have explored counselor educators’ preparedness to support international students and the experiences of international faculty and doctoral students. Additional funding has supported projects on rural telehealth outreach, mental health in Kenya, multicultural identity, and afterschool psychoeducation. Her work informs inclusive policy, pedagogy, and global mental health initiatives.
