UVM's M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction develops innovative leaders in teaching, curriculum theory, curriculum development, and related areas of research for public and private schools as well as other educational settings. Graduates can apply for additional licensure endorsements through transcript review with the Vermont Agency of Education.
Online Coursework for Your Convenience
Complete all coursework online, with the exception of select field-based coursework for students interested in our Education for Sustainability specialization.
Courses are offered during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. The program includes 30 graduate credits (12 core credits and 18 credits of electives) emphasizing development of knowledge and skills related to educational justice, building criticality to transform education, centering humanistic pedagogies, and building a reflective practice.

Specialization Tracks (18 credits)
Choose an area of specialization or craft an individually designed program of study aligned with your interests and goals.
Resiliency-Based Approaches - Two Tracks: Trauma-responsive and Restorative Practices (TRP) or Family-school-community partnerships and interprofessional collaboration (FSC)
Capstone
The program culminate with a capstone portfolio showcasing your learning and the impact of coursework on your professional practice. The portfolio is presented to a small committee of enthusiastic and supportive program faculty as a final comprehensive exam.
