Organizations who are willing to host UVM students:

Big Heavy World and The Radiator, 105.9FM, Burlington, VT

Executive Director of Big Heavy World and WOMM-LP 105.9FM The Radiator, Jim Lockridge, has several internships to offer UVM students this summer.

WOMM-LP 105.9FM, The Radiator, is an outlet for the many events and programs of Big Heavy World, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and promoting the original music of Vermont. They do a lot of community-building, and are proactively inclusive.

This company welcomes student support with community outreach involving production of audio and social media campaigns relating to Make Music Day (June 21), an anti-harassment workshop series (July and August); a grand opening of our tiny museum of VT music history and unveiling of a large photo mural project (September). Production of general public service announcements, radio show promotions, and information about community resources (such as COVID vaccinations) is ongoing.

Help with marketing underwriting to local businesses would be very welcome.

If a student is interested in becoming on-air talent, we are able to provide that opportunity as well, whether within our mission or as an independent student interest outside of an internship.

This intern should expect to work 20 hours/week for ten weeks. Applicants must be rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors. The deadline for this application is March 18, 2021.

Interested applicants should contact Jenny Grosvenor directly. Please send a brief statement of interest, as well as related skills, relevant experience, and a current resume.
