About the Co-op

Here at the School of the Arts Ceramics Co-op, we are offering UVM students and the general community an opportunity to explore the world of creating with clay. From wheel-throwing to hand-building, our facilities have everything you need to dive into the exploration of ceramic arts. The SoA Ceramics Co-op is intended for those who are self-driven with their ceramics journey; all are welcome to join, experienced and inexperienced alike. There will be guidance from the SoA Ceramics Co-op manager, who is there to help mentor and answer any questions. All blocks are non-credited and are not structured classes; studio sessions will be for fun and to inspire creativity.

Members will be able to choose a block time with 4 hours of studio time a week (make-up blocks are allowed). There will be open studio sessions on Fridays, allowing members 2 extra hours every other week (there will be a sign-up sheet). You can either sign up for a hand-building spot or a wheel-throwing spot. Everything you need is included with your membership, such as: wheels, slab roller, coil press, clay, tools, glazes, firings, etc. Our Fall 206 session is between August 31st and December 12th. Our Spring 2027 session is between January 19th and May 1st. Each session gives members 14 working weeks. Fall 2026 membership registration is open until October 17th and Spring 2027 is open until February 20th. Feel free to come by and check out the studio M-F 9am-5pm, the manager will show you around.
