A native of Russia, Julia Katsnelson received her B.A. in Psychology and Russian from the University of Vermont in 2012, and she obtained her M.A. degree in Russian from Middlebury College in 2014. She wrote her M.A. thesis on “The Concept of “World Duplication” As the Base of Composition and the Main Principal of Nabokov’s Poetics. Based on Vladimir Nabokov’s Early Prose; Mary, The Defense, and Invitation to a Beheading”.
She began teaching in our Department of German and Russian in the spring semester of 2016. Before teaching in the university, she worked as Russian translator/interpreter for Burlington School District in 2008-2014.
As a native Russian speaker, she provides her students with excellent instruction in the language, and well-informed information and insights into Russian history and culture. She is enjoying the experience of teaching Russian history and culture in the university.
