Program Overview

Critical Race and Ethnic Studies (CRES) brings together multiple disciplinary perspectives to examine race and ethnicity in the United States. Through courses across the curriculum, students investigate how historical processes, cultural practices, political institutions, and social relations shape racial and ethnic identities. The minor provides opportunities to examine questions of power, inequality, representation, and belonging across different communities and contexts.

Curriculum

CRES courses come from a range of academic disciplines, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the field. Course offerings vary each semester and may include Special Topics and Honors College courses. Students should consult the See Also list in the Schedule of Courses (Classic Version) before registration to identify additional courses eligible for the minor. Because some of these courses may not automatically appear in degree audits, students should consult the CRES director with questions about course eligibility or the application of credits toward the minor.
