Senior Lecturer of Chinese

Diana Yiqing Sun, originally from Beijing, China, got her Master Degree in Education from St. Louis University. She has been teaching at the University of Vermont since the fall of 2000. Before then, she had taught at CET Beijing Chinese Program for three years, at Washington University in St. Louis for five years. Her experiences also include teaching at the Chinese Summer School at Middlebury College for eight years, four of which as head instructor. She is a recipient of the University of Vermont Kroepsch-Maurice Excellence in Teaching Award of 2006. She has taught these courses at UVM: Elementary Chinese (CHIN 001/002), the 3rd Year College Chinese (CHIN 101/102), the 3rd Year Chinese Conversations (CHIN 121/122), the 4th Year College Chinese (CHIN 201/202), Special Topics on Chinese Reading and Writing (CHIN 295/296). She served as the director of Chinese House at the Global Village for multiple years. She is a board member of American Society of Shufa Calligraphy Education. She has been co-directing the Study Abroad Program in China in summer.

She is the co-author of Practical Rhythmic Chinese, published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, and Essential College Chinese, published by Beijing Language and Culture University Press and Phoenix Tree Publishing Inc.
