BIO

I am an illustrator and designer with a specialization in plant, animal, and scientific subjects, and over 20 years of experience creating imagery and visual communications for a wide range of clients. At UVM, I teach observational drawing, using botanical subjects as a foundation for investigation into line, shading, composition, and basic color theory. Art and science are both driven by a fundamental curiosity, and drawing aids both disciplines by enabling enhanced insight through a process of visual exploration. In addition to being introduced to traditional mediums, design principles, and basic botanical morphology, my students effectively learn how better to SEE and understand their world.
