Audio Description Services

Body

The Office of Accessibility Services provides free audio description for:

  • Students who have documented disabilities where audio description would benefit them, and
  • UVM-produced videos that have no dialogue content. Under requirement 1.2.1 of WCAG 2.2, prerecorded video-only content must have a text or audio description.

More about audio description

The Royal National Institute for the Blind created this video to explain audio description in action. It blends examples of audio description with testimonials from people who use it.

If you are a student receiving current accommodations from SAS, check with your Student Accessibility Services to figure out whether you are approved for audio descriptions.

If you are a UVM staff or faculty member who has produced a video that has no dialogue content, fill out the Captioning, Transcription, and Audio Description form to order audio description services.
