A University of Vermont School of Business Administration team took home top honors at one of the oldest and most prestigious undergraduate business competitions in the world, the Inter-Collegiate Business Competition this weekend. After advancing past the preliminary round conducted last fall, the team of Kristen Caron and Greg Van Kleeck went on to the final round and earned 1st place in the Ethics Division out of the 6 finalist schools.

The competition, held at the Queen's School of Business in Kingston, Ontario, began with a written submission of a business ethics case analysis. Entries in this preliminary round were stripped of any details that identify the schools, before being evaluated by a panel of judges composed of academics and practitioners.

Their written analysis was one of the top 5 submissions selected out of almost 30 schools earning their seat at the final round of the competition. During this final round, they came in 1st with their oral presentation of a case on Business Ethics that they had 5.5 hours to analyze and prepare for 6 judges.

Kristen and Greg were especially thankful to all of the school of business faculty who helped them prepare; especially Rocki DeWitt and David Jones for working closely with them during the last weeks of the semester, and Cathy Beaudoin, Hugh Marble, Marti Woodman and Dann Van Der Vliet for critiquing a practice case conducted the week after final exams.

They are also very grateful to our alumni whose generosity allowed the team to attend and compete, and all the other faculty they have had the pleasure of taking a course from which prepared them well for this competition.

The other schools in the division were McGill University, Queens University, Sheridan College, Okanagan College and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
