    Keynote speaker: Dr. Sara Brown is Chair of the Language and Literature Faculty at Signum University, USA. Dr. Brown currently serves on the editorial board of Mallorn, the academic journal of the Tolkien Society, and is co-presenter on podcasts such as The Tolkien Experience, The Rings of Power Wrap-Up, and The Prancing Pony. Her essay on an alchemical reading of the Ring of Power won the Tolkien Society Award for best article in 2023, and she is currently working on a number of other projects for publication. Learn More and Register HERE.

Symposium is a yearly event where English and FTS majors and minors can share their passion projects with a supportive community of educators and students.     Meet Professor Emily Casey! In her first semester at UVM Professor Casey has been teaching Written Expression and a non-fiction class Writing About Illness & the Body.  Pictured on the left is Professor Casey's first book, Made Holy (2019), a collection of “haunting prose” that explores intertwining themes of love, loss and addiction.
