UVM's Graduate Writing Center supports graduate student writing and communication in all fields, at all stages, and in all forms including articles, proposals, posters, and more.

Our consultants - experienced graduate writers from programs across the campus - help writers develop skill and confidence.  Thanks to support from the UVM Graduate College, our services are free to UVM graduate students and post-doctoral fellows.

Appointment Options

Individual In-Person and Online Appointments

We offer individual appointments in person in Howe Library (ground floor) and online via Teams. This is a good option for short drafts, brainstorming, and more.

Review and Meet Appointments

If you have a long or technical draft of up to 20 pages, you can make a two-part Review and Meet appointment with the same consultant (in-person or online).

Group Online Appointments

We offer group appointments in person in Howe Library (ground floor) and online via Teams to students working together on the same project.

Writing Resources

In addition to in-person and online support, graduate writers have access to valuable writing resources.

Writing Retreats

Weekly writing retreats offer extended time for independent writing in the company of other graduate students and with the option of meeting with a consultant anytime during the retreat.

Thesis and Dissertation Camps

Camps offer graduate students several hours of distraction-free writing supported by healthy meals and the option of meeting with a graduate writing consultant.
