Complex Systems and Data Science
BIO
Will studies Complex Systems and Data Science for his M.S. at UVM. Currently, he is investigating the representation of Rain-on-Snow flood events in NOAA's National Water Model and NextGen. His broad research interests include machine learning applications for modeling earth systems, particularly regarding how physical models and data-driven models can interact or be implemented together.
Before coming to UVM, Will performed field research, data analysis, and GIS for LandWEB, a nonprofit developing earth system feedback software for regenerative agriculture. He also worked on peatland restoration in Minnesota with The Nature Conservancy, and researched historic change in salt marsh extent with NOAA's South Slough NERR. For his undergrad, Will completed a joint B.A. in Environmental Studies & Biology at Middlebury College. In his spare time, Will loves coaching pole vault and playing bluegrass with his friends.
