Northeast Evaluation Testbed for Water Resource Applications (NETWA)

The Northeast Evaluation Testbed for Water Resource Applications (NETWA) is a shared, interoperable computational infrastructure for the WRI Community. Tools and services include (1) data acquisition tools, (2) computational workflows, (3) experimental protocols, and (4) a community of practice.

Data

Data Acquisition Tools

Body

A set of data acquisition tools for commonly used water resources datasets. Datasets currently supported include:

  • AORC
  • CFS
  • FEMC
  • GFS
  • LCD
  • NWM
  • NWM Retrospective
  • USGS Instantaneous Value Service

Computational Workflows

Forecast Workflow

Body

This workflow is designed for water resources forecasts and has been built out, in particular, for Cyanobacterial Harmful Algal Blooms (cHABs).

Floodplains

Body

This workflow build floodplain maps using publicly available digital elevation map data.

LightGBM for National Water Model Corrections

Body

This workflow corrects the NWM using nearby gauged streams in montane regions.

Community

Research Computing and Data (RCD) Seminar

Body

Every other Tuesday, WRI researchers come together to discuss an article or blog post related to research computing and data (RCD). It provides a time to learn from each other and RCD facilitators how to improve their data management and software design skills as well as keep up on the latest in computational technologies.
