BIO
As a Master of Electrical Engineering graduate student, Ryan is developing a snow monitoring system that focuses on accurate and real-time detection of precipitation phases, e.g., rain, snow, sleet, and hail. Identifying the precipitation phase is crucial in hydrology, climate science, and water resource management, as it determines how water is stored and released in a given environment. More specifically, he is working on the embedded firmware within the system for autonomous field deployment.
Ryan's research interests also involve remote interrogation of harmonic transponders for both monitoring the moisture content in environments and device localization. Some of his key skills include designing embedded systems using C++, data analysis using Python, and soldering. He has a background in wireless communications, FPGA, and software development.
