A free concert in the UVM Recital Hall will celebrate chamber music from the Romantic era, Friday, Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
Featuring selections that capture the music of feeling and imagination -- music that flourished during the early part of the 19th century -- the concert will include Beethoven's Violin Sonata, No. 5, Op. 24, the "Spring" sonata (1801); Schumann's Fantasy Pieces, Op. 73, for cello and piano (1849); Franz Schubert and Carl Loewe songs: "An die Musik," "Der Erlkönig" ( 2 settings); and Schubert's Piano Trio, No. 1 in B-flat (1828).
Performing the music are Colleen Jennings, violin; Ira Morris, violin; John Dunlop, cello; Erik Kroncke, bass; and Paul Orgel, piano.
The concert, open to the public, is presented in relation to courses in the English Department and others at UVM with connection to the Romantic Era.
