The University of Vermont women’s basketball team, fresh from their second American East championship in as many years, fell to the Cardinals of the University of Louisville on Saturday, March 21, in the first round of the NCAA Division I Tournament. 

The Catamounts led the Cardinals into the second quarter of the game, but Louisville, playing on its home court, ultimately won 72-52. Saturday's game was Vermont's third NCAA Tournament bid in the last four seasons, and the team’s second consecutive March Madness appearance.
