Joel Nigg, director of the Division of Psychology and a professor of psychiatry, pediatrics, and behavioral neuroscience at Oregon Health & Science University, will speak on "ADHD: Mechanisms, Causes and Future Directions for Research," Wednesday, April 18 at 3 p.m. in Fletcher Allen's Davis Auditorium.
The event, which is free and open to the public, is part of the Burack President's Distinguished Lecture Series and is co-sponsored by the Neuroscience, Behavior and Health Initiative.
Nigg is a senior research scientist who investigates the underlying mechanisms and causes of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) across the lifespan. His primary research is into cognitive and neuropsychological mechanisms, however, studies of genetics, family dynamics, personality and temperament, environmental toxins and neuroimaging of ADHD are also ongoing. Nigg has authored more than 150 publications and is both a nationally and internationally recognized leader in the field of ADHD research.
