Vermont Afterschool is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that the children and youth in every Vermont community are able to benefit from the power of afterschool, summer learning, and third space programs during the out-of-school time hours. We believe that we have a collective responsibility to ensure all young Vermonters are active, engaged, connected, and heard.
This STEM list was created in partnership with the STEM Advisory Committee and is a place where afterschool and summer programs, youth, families, and anyone else can find STEM offerings throughout the state of Vermont. We hope people will connect with these contacts to utilize the STEM offerings that exist around them so that all youth can have opportunities to explore STEM.

The AHEC program provides health career exploration programs for Vermont students, supports engagement of health professionals in their communities, and works to reduce debt of primary care practitioners in Vermont. VT AHEC Network works across the health workforce pipeline to reach from middle school students to practicing health professionals in the fields of medical, nursing, dental, and health sciences with programs including health careers awareness, summer programs, job shadow opportunities, pre-professional enhancement, clinical rotations in rural and underserved communities, interdisciplinary and community-based projects, and recruitment and retention programs.

Vermont Destination Imagination

Kingdom Career Connect with VSAC, Lyndon, VT
Every fall, VSAC hosts an in-person career exploration event for middle schoolers in and around the Northeast Kingdom. Encore is funded largely in part by the Century 21 grant, allowing programming to be offered for little to no cost to its attendees. It is also funded by our local schools, donations, and a number of small grants that come together to allow children to learn exciting new skills like gardening, cooking, archery, survival, boating, sewing, and so much more!

The Vermont State University (VTSU) 3D Technology Summer Institute is a residential program where highly motivated high school students can gain valuable experience through hands-on learning with cutting-edge 3D imaging, 3D printing, and 3D modelling technologies, and more, while also earning up to 9 college credits and a certificate in 3D Technology from VTSU. Sage Mountain Botanical Sanctuary, Orange, VT
Sage Mountain Botanical Sanctuary is a conservation education center located on unceded Abenaki territory known as Central Vermont. Stewarding over 600 acres within nearly 80,000 acres of contiguous wilderness, this land has provided a sanctuary for over thirty years to plants, animals, and people. Sage Mountain hosts nature summer camps and afterschool programs for local youth in 3rd through 8th grades.
