Summer Internship Positions — Brattleboro

In partnership with the Brattleboro Development Credit Corp and the School for International Training (SIT), the 2026 Leahy Institute Summer Internship program will support a cohort of 10 UVM summer interns working with organizations that support the Brattleboro community, including resettled New Americans.

The UVM Leahy Institute will fund a stipend of $4,000 per intern and provide housing at the SIT campus in Brattleboro, Vermont. Program dates: June 1-August 7, 2026

World Learning — ESL Teaching Assistant & Intercultural Facilitator Intern

Position Summary: This internship offers hands-on experience working with refugees and other New Vermonters, supporting English language learning and cultural orientation programming. 

The intern will assist ESL instructors in the classroom, support cultural orientation sessions, and help with lesson preparation and basic program administration.

United Way of Windham County — Community Impact Intern

Position Summary: Help grow three emerging initiatives focused on connection, equity, and opportunity: United We Roll roller skating event, Volunteer Connect Program, and a Youth Financial Empowerment course. 

This is a hands-on opportunity to work directly with the Executive Director on business planning, nonprofit outreach, volunteer engagement, and youth programming.

Position Summary: Intern will engage with the National Main Street America framework for downtown revitalization, implement and evaluate a new property inventory tool, interview community members to gain insight into development needs and challenges, and participate in coordinating site activation programs like Lunch in Lot, Sucka Punch Graffiti Jam, Teen Street, and First Friday.
