This will be a community-engaged effort, like our strategic planning process. In March and early April, we will hold listening sessions for members of the community to help shape the position profile and identify priorities for the search.

Community Input
With essential input from the UVM community, we began a national recruitment in April 2026, with the goal of completing the search in early fall 2026. We expect the new provost to begin in January 2027.
Listening Sessions
To support this work, executive search firm WittKieffer conducted virtual listening sessions with the UVM community in April 2026. WittKieffer brings deep expertise in academic leadership searches and important familiarity with UVM developed over many years and several important searches.
On-campus Interviews
Finalists were on campus in late September/early October to meet in person with Dr. Tromp and the search committee. They also met with representatives of the following stakeholder groups:
