The Pre-Med Advisor supports students and alums in their undergraduate and post-graduate journey to medical or dental school.

About Pre-Med Advising

While the Health Professions Interest Group provides support and resources on everything from recommended coursework and gaining experience to preparing application materials for professional programs, the Pre-Med Advisor (housed in the Career Center) offers proactive advising to support pre-health students in becoming confident candidates with exceptional applications who make smart decisions about when and where to apply to graduate and professional schools.

UVM does not offer a pre-med major. As you choose your course of study, you should consult our page on choosing a major and course recommendations. All students who wish to attend medical or dental school are encouraged to reflect on and document their academic, volunteer, and shadowing experiences through the Health Professions Portfolio+ (HPP+) process.

Where do UVM graduates go?

Over the last five years, the acceptance rate for UVM graduates who are first-time applicants to medical school is 54%, compared to the national average of 41%.

Learn more about our innovative application support on our Application Process Overview webpage.
