Dear Citizen:

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback to our department. We greatly value your perspective and hope that you will be open and honest with us as you complete the following form. Our mission is to provide you with the best police services, services which are not functional without your trust. As we strive for legitimacy in our role, we must be receptive to all forms of feedback from our community and ensure that we are responding effectively.

The UVM Department of Police Services has a citizen complaint procedure in place. This procedure serves to outline the disciplinary process and initiate corrective action if officers conduct themselves improperly. Additionally, this process serves to protect officers from unwarranted criticism when they perform their duties accurately.

We encourage you to report improper police conduct. Complaints will be dealt with in a prompt, open, and expedient manner. We also want to provide folks with an opportunity to share their experiences with us when our team performs their duties with distinction. Exceptional behavior on behalf of our department can have just as much of an impact on our community.

Please feel free to contact my office during normal business hours if you have any questions. Our administrative line is 802-656-2027.

Respectfully,

Timothy Bilodeau, M.Ed
Chief of Police Services
